LORAIN COUNTY KINSHIP CARE PROGRAM

The two Kinship Navigators, Helene Stone and Michele Stoller, are licensed social workers with extensive social work experience working with clients and community agencies. We provide information and referral, case management and development of additional resources for kinship caregivers in Lorain County. We provide information about resources available such as child care, educational services, legal services, medical programs, mental health services, respite services , disability services, support groups and transportation.

We help caregivers access the financial services for which they qualify. If they have a need for legal assistance, we help them get a free legal consultation and we have some funds available to help with legal filing fees and legal ads. We provide a kinship caregiver support group staffed by a family therapist. We have a kinship food bank in cooperation with Second Harvest Food Bank.

A trained education specialist is available to assist our caregivers with their children’s learning problems, particularly reading. We are advocates for kinship caregivers helping them to deal with the many issues they confront in their role of caring for relative children.
